Choosing the correct size for stretch garments is different from choosing a size for woven garments.
Katkow stretch patterns are already drafted with stretch built into the measurements. The sizing charts account for negative ease and fabric recovery, so you do not need to size down for stretch.
Always follow the size chart provided on the specific pattern page. Use your actual body measurements and match them to the chart rather than guessing based on ready-to-wear sizes.
If you are between sizes, consider your fabric’s stretch percentage. Fabrics with higher stretch and strong recovery will feel more forgiving. Fabrics with lower stretch may feel more fitted.
If you are unsure, it is usually safer to size up. You can always take a garment in slightly, but letting it out is much more difficult.
Choosing the correct size based on stretch ensures proper fit, comfort, and durability for performance garments.
