Founded by drag artist and designer Sour Mandy, Katkow grew from a lifelong interest in sewing, pattern making, and fashion design. After entering the drag scene in 2019, the need for garments that matched modern drag fashion while fitting male padded silhouettes became clear. Traditional clothing stores and many commercial sewing patterns did not accommodate drag shapes and proportions.

Creating drag-sized sewing patterns became the solution. What began as creating personal stagewear soon evolved into sharing patterns so other queens and makers could create their own drag looks with the best fit.

Today Katkow primarily produces digital sewing patterns drafted for drag queen sizing, while also offering some designs in standard women’s and standard men’s sizing for cosplay and costume projects. The collections include garments such as catsuits, leotards, corsets, and accessories, ranging from beginner-friendly projects to more advanced construction techniques.

A key feature of Katkow patterns is a specialized sizing system developed with drag queen performers in mind. The sizing combines elements from traditional men’s measurements with adjustments for padded silhouettes, longer torsos, and broader shoulders. This approach helps accommodate bodies and performance shapes often overlooked in standard fashion patterns.
