Choosing whether to size up or down depends on your measurements, fabric stretch, and desired fit.

Always start by comparing your body measurements to the size chart provided for the specific Katkow pattern. Our stretch patterns already include negative ease, so do not automatically size down.

When to size up:

  • If you are between sizes
  • If your fabric has lower stretch percentage
  • If you prefer a slightly less tight fit
  • If the garment includes heavy structure like boning or thick seams

When to size down:

  • If your fabric has very high stretch and strong recovery
  • If you prefer a very tight, performance fit

If you are unsure, it is generally safer to size up. You can always take a garment in slightly, but letting it out is much harder.

Testing your fabric stretch percentage and sewing a mockup can help you make the most confident sizing decision.
